#{{support|weak}} I'm not ''opposed'' to this idea, in theory, and I ''do'' think that we need to rethink [[Gazetteer of wikis]] given that we have ~3,800 current wikis (which is too large for a single page). My main concern, which I expressed in declining the wiki request, was that this ''may'' suffer from lack of maintenance and timely updates. As well, by siphoning it away from Meta, we now have yet another wiki we have to somehow promote, so that sort of defeats the purpose of a gazetteer of wikis designed to ''promote'' customers' public wikis, doesn't it? Secondarily, I honestly think a better way to go about this is to ''add'' additional functionality and data output to the automated list, [[Special:WikiDiscover]]. That said, it's a [[w:WP:AGF|good-faith]] idea, ''in theory'' and if ''well-maintained'', so that is why I am expressing some support, albeit ''weak''. No community proposals or discussions, or even drafts of such proposals, would've occurred on this wiki. I have a proposition for the Miraheze community. For a while now I have been debating whether or not to create a developers wiki for Miraheze. Unlike the [[mh:template|template wiki]], this wiki will include CSS and JS scripts that anyone can import using <code>mw.loader.load('')</code>, it will allow anyone who wants it to use scripts built by the community in their own wikis and/or in their own personal global or local JavaScript or CSS files. The sitename mainly controls the ''title'' or ''name'' of your wiki and the name of your wiki's <code>Project:</code> namespace. It can be changed fairly easily in [[Special:ManageWiki]]. Your subdomain ''is'' tied to your database name, so you should not change this frequently or, ideally, more than once, as it involves a [[Phabricator]] task. Doing that would involve making one's e-mail address public, though, unless the wiki was a private wiki, of course. One other option you could try, and this would be easier actually, is to set up a private Discord server for your wiki, create a wiki [[Special:RecentChanges|RC]] feed channel on the Discord server, add your Discord server webhook into [[Special:ManageWiki]] on your wiki, and then have Discord e-mail you if there's been activity (i.e., from that RC feed channel). Specifically, I would like to make a wiki that provides links to educational resources for elementary and high schools; for example YouTube videos that explain math. (I found a lot of great resources, and I believe it would be useful to have them at one place, sorted by school curriculum.) Editors of the wiki would be adult people, typically teachers. But the intended audience is the students and/or their parents; in case of elementary school, that would include kids below 13. The expected use case is: "A kid didn't understand the lesson about triangles at school, goes to the wiki, chooses 'Math' + grade + 'Triangles', and hopefully there are a couple of YouTube videos linked." (That is, the kids are definitely ''not'' expected to 'edit' the wiki.)

Under UK law, as well as the laws of the European Union, Miraheze Limited is legally prohibited from knowingly collecting personal information from users under that age. In your case, you could still create a fishbowl wiki that was only editable by the <code>editor</code> group and you could even take away the <code>createaccount</code> permission from the anonymous user group (<code>*</code>) and even the <code>user</code> group, so accounts could not be created. So, yeah, to answer your question, it's not a problem for you to create an educational wiki that would be read only by students as the students could not create an account on that wiki. I personally find it quite impersonal and prefer ''not'' to use it. In fact, I haven't reenabled it on Meta, as the two most useful features I used, the pseudo-rollback functionality, I'm using [[User:BrandonXLF|BrandonXLF]]'s [[w:User:BrandonXLF/Restorer|Restorer]] and actual <code>rollback</code>. Where I used specific templates, <code><nowiki>{{subst:</nowiki>''templatename''<nowiki>}}</nowiki></code> works well for me, and is nearly as quick.
